Is education ready?

This is one of the trends in education for the century

An organization called the Partnership for 21st Century Skills has developed a program designed to help educators prepare their students for the future. According to the Partnership, students need the following skills. The job of educators in the 21st century is to deliver them:

* Information and communication skills;
* Thinking and problem-solving skills;
* Interpersonal and self-direction skills;
* Global awareness;
* Financial, economic, and business skills; and
* Civic literacy.

Cinco ventanas

Five windows light the cavern'd Man;
thro' one he breathes the air;
Thro' one, hears music of the spheres;
thro' one, the eternal vine Flourishes, that he may recieve the grapes;
thro' one can look. And see small portions of the eternal world that ever groweth;
Thro' one, himself pass out what time he please, but he will not; For stolen joys are sweet, & bread eaten in secret pleasant.
William Blake

Respira el aire por una;
Por otra oye la música de las esferas;
Por otra los eternos viñedos florecen,
para que pueda gozar de los racimos;
en incesante crecimiento;
pero no quiere;
Porque las alegrías furtivas son dulces
y apetitoso el pan comido en secreto.
William Blake

Web 3.0

Now that the speculation about web 2.0 is running, and some people say that we're close to a new "bubble", others say that it's a good business time, and the cycle is not closed yet, but new options are in the horizon

At thr same time some people is beginnig to talk about web 3.0. It's utopy for some and possible for others. The believers name it also as "semantic web". A kind of inteligent machine wich will understand our toughts and give us something more than information.

In fact, the web is every day most real than virtual. Love this times

A book sometimes is more than a book

This guy, Giangiacomo Feltrinelli (1926-1972) and his wife & son are like quixotes in the current editorial world. Tough he is sometimes viewed as a "comunist", in the long view after reading the chronicle in Gatopardo, i think that he is an interesting mixture between entrepreneur and militant of an ideology that brang some fresh air to Italy's cultural life.

His life is an adventure, connected with the fascist and post-fascist time in Italy, and with loyalty to ideas, family and business (in that order). In some way it inspires to keep watching or feeling the star.

Napoleon revisited

I've just read Rosa Montero at El pais newspaper from Spain.

"El patriotismo es siempre brutal y los patriotas admiran a los más brutos, a aquellos que han conseguido victorias para la tribu, sin que importen los precios de sangre y de terror, de injusticia y dolor que hayan tenido que pagar para la gloria bélica."

She wrote on some facts about Napoleon from Chateaubriand, wich show him as a bloody person, who toke desitions that killed many people, but not only from ennemies army, but from his own.

Now he is in our history books like a hero... May be heros are closer to us and not Always in history books.
